The Dyson CameraJet toothbrush launched in September 2026, then encountered an early manufacturing problem and interrupted availability. Dyson later said it was producing and shipping the device again. Its latest published explanation does not announce a cancellation or permanent discontinuation.
For shoppers in the UAE, two questions matter: what went wrong with the launch, and whether a locally supported product is actually available to buy. A global announcement does not settle the second question.
What is the Dyson CameraJet?
Dyson unveiled CameraJet in Paris on 1 September 2026. The electric toothbrush combines brushing with camera-guided liquid flossing. According to Dyson, a small camera identifies spaces between teeth, allowing the device to direct bursts of mouthrinse into those gaps while the user brushes.
The system also includes a charging and refill dock, travel case, toothpaste and mouthrinse. Dyson describes the toothpaste as non-foaming to help the camera maintain a clear view. The MyDyson app provides a live view and brushing guidance.
Those are manufacturer-described features. This article is a news and availability update, not a hands-on review or an independent test of cleaning performance.
The launch timeline
- 1 September 2026: Dyson announced the system’s launch through its website, Demo Stores and selected retailers. This was a commercial launch, rather than just a concept reveal.
- 11 September 2026: Frandroid reported direct confirmation from Dyson that sales had been temporarily suspended in France following a component problem affecting some early production batches.
- 21 September 2026: The Independent reported that Dyson was separating affected batches and offering refunds for impacted units. Dyson told the publication this did not constitute a product recall.
- 30 September 2026: Dyson issued its official CameraJet update. It attributed the issue to a production process affecting one batch of jet tubes, which could allow water seepage and impair performance. It said isolating affected products had caused a temporary stock shortage, and that production and shipping were under way.
Was the Dyson toothbrush recalled or discontinued?
The available statements support an interrupted launch and action on affected products. They do not establish permanent discontinuation or a formal global safety recall. Dyson’s September statements to Frandroid and The Independent specifically distinguished its response from a recall.
That distinction should not minimise an owner’s problem. A faulty toothbrush still needs support. Equally, an out-of-stock notice cannot establish that every unit has the same defect. The public information reviewed does not provide a complete list of affected serial numbers or a reliable failure rate.
There is also no basis here to declare every newly supplied unit problem-free. A company statement about shipping is different from independently verified long-term reliability.
Can you buy it now, including in the UAE?
Availability remains market-specific. At our 14 October check, Dyson’s US Ceramic Ultra Blue listing displayed a US$499.99 price and an out-of-stock notice. Dyson’s UK listing displayed £419.99, but its stock messages were inconsistent, so we could not confidently verify immediate UK availability.
Dyson’s UAE Unveiled 2026 page features CameraJet. However, our checks did not establish an official UAE retail price in dirhams, a confirmed local on-sale date or an orderable UAE product listing. Promotional coverage alone should not be treated as confirmation of local stock.
Before buying an imported unit, ask the seller who will handle faults and returns, whether support is available in the UAE, and how replacement heads and compatible consumables will be supplied. Get those answers in writing. Do not assume that an overseas price or warranty arrangement applies locally.
What should existing owners do?
If your CameraJet leaks, stops charging, becomes unusually hot or displays a warning, stop using and charging it and contact Dyson or the retailer. Avoid opening the device or trying an improvised repair. Keep the receipt, serial number and a record of the fault.
Use the official Dyson UAE contact page for local guidance. Ask whether your particular unit is affected and what remedy applies. The September refund reporting should not be read as a promise that identical arrangements apply to every customer in every country.
Should you wait for it?
There is no need to put everyday oral care on hold while waiting for a particular device. NHS guidance recommends brushing with fluoride toothpaste twice daily for about two minutes and explains that both manual and electric brushes can clean effectively when used thoroughly. A dentist or hygienist can advise on cleaning between your teeth.
If CameraJet interests you, weigh local support, replacement supplies, running costs and evidence of sustained reliability alongside its camera and automatic jetting features.
Frequently asked questions
Did Dyson actually release a toothbrush?
Yes. CameraJet had a commercial launch on 1 September 2026. Subsequent reporting covered products already in customers’ hands.
Why did it disappear from sale?
Dyson linked temporary shortages to isolating products affected by an early jet-tube manufacturing issue. Availability should still be checked separately for each market.
Is there a confirmed UAE price?
We could not verify an official UAE price as of 14 October 2026. Check directly with Dyson UAE before relying on a reseller’s listing or a converted overseas price.
